When was the last time you thought about the AIDS epidemic before today?

December 1, 2018 marks the 30th anniversary of World AIDS Day.

December is also AIDS Awareness Month. These campaigns raise awareness and support for people living with HIV. It’s also a time to remember people who died from AIDS-related illnesses.

HIV and AIDS are still affecting people’s lives in your country and across the globe.

The AIDS epidemic got a lot of attention in the United States, especially during the 1980s and 1990s. Much of HIV/AIDS awareness has also focused on prevention efforts and providing treatment in African countries.

But have we forgotten about HIV/AIDS?

Are we distracted by social media, political divisions, and even by awareness efforts for other diseases such as breast cancer?

Not completely.
